What Is Subnovii Plasma?
Subnovii Advanced Plasma Technology is a prescription Class II electrosurgical device that produces a controlled electrical arc in close proximity to the skin. The treatment creates very small, precisely placed areas of controlled thermal injury.
Those micro-injuries initiate a healing response and tissue remodeling. In aesthetic practice, providers may use the technology for carefully selected areas where visible skin laxity, fine lines or texture are the primary concern.
The FDA-cleared intended use of Subnovii is the removal and destruction of skin lesions and coagulation of tissue. Cosmetic skin tightening applications should therefore be discussed as part of an individualized treatment plan.

The Technology
How Does Subnovii Plasma Pen Work?
The Subnovii handpiece generates an ionized electrical arc between its electrode and the skin without the electrode itself needing to touch the skin surface.
The energy creates tiny controlled treatment points. The tissue responds with immediate contraction at the treated points followed by a wound-healing and remodeling process.
After treatment, the small dots become visible crusts and naturally shed as healing progresses. Collagen remodeling continues after the surface has healed.

The eye and mouth areas contain thin skin and small lines that may benefit from a treatment designed for very focused application.
Crepey Eyelid Skin
Subnovii may be considered for mild upper-eyelid laxity, fine lower-eyelid texture and crow's feet when a non-surgical approach is appropriate.
It is not a substitute for blepharoplasty when excess skin is significant or affects vision. More advanced laxity should be evaluated for surgical options.
Fine Vertical Lip Lines
The upper-lip area can develop fine etched lines that are difficult to address with a single treatment type. Plasma can be useful when the concern is small and localized.

That matters with Subnovii because plasma is very useful for certain small areas, but it is not automatically the best solution for every wrinkle or every form of laxity.
Depending on the concern, I may recommend Subnovii, Virtue RF, SkinPen, CoolPeel, deeper CO2 resurfacing or another approach. The goal is to choose the technology that makes the most sense for your skin, treatment area and acceptable recovery time.
