Skin Tightening Treatments in Charlotte, NC

Non-surgical skin tightening is not one treatment. We use different technologies for deeper laxity, crepey texture, fine lines, delicate eyelid skin and long-term collagen support — then match the treatment to the layer of skin that actually needs attention.

Modern Skin Clinic offers a spectrum of collagen-focused treatments including Virtue RF Microneedling, Lumenis Legend Pro TriPollar and TriFractional RF, Subnovii Plasma, DEKA Tetra CO₂ resurfacing, Revision D·E·J BioStim™ and AnteAGE P.E.A.R.L. exosome/PDRN support.

Loose Skin Crepey Texture Jawline + Neck Under Eyes Fine Lines Collagen Loss

Different Layers · Different Technologies

The strongest treatment is not always the smartest treatment.

A crepey lower eyelid, soft jawline, etched upper-lip lines and early loss of elasticity are different problems. We choose the treatment according to depth, recovery tolerance and the type of remodeling your skin needs.

What Does “Skin Tightening” Actually Mean?

As skin ages, collagen becomes less abundant and organized, elastic properties change and the dermal support structure becomes less resilient. Weight changes, UV exposure, genetics and the passage of time can all make the face, neck or body look softer, thinner, crepey or less defined.

Non-surgical treatments cannot remove a large amount of excess skin the way surgery can. What they can do is create controlled thermal, fractional or biochemical signals that encourage remodeling of the existing skin — improving firmness, texture and visible skin quality to different degrees.

The key is matching the mechanism to the concern. Deeper RF microneedling does something different from non-invasive RF. Fractional CO₂ does something different from plasma. A topical biostimulator or exosome/PDRN treatment plays a different role again.

Why Skin Changes

What Contributes to Loose or Crepey Skin?

Natural Aging Collagen production and skin renewal slow over time, changing firmness, resilience and visible texture.
UV Exposure Chronic sun exposure contributes to collagen breakdown, elastosis, fine lines and uneven texture.
Weight Change Significant or rapid weight loss can reveal laxity or crepey texture on the face, neck, abdomen, arms and other body areas.
Genetics Skin thickness, facial structure, collagen density and the pace of visible aging vary considerably from person to person.
Hormonal Change Hormonal transitions can influence skin thickness, hydration and collagen behavior over time.
Repeated Movement Dynamic facial movement contributes to etched lines around the eyes and mouth as skin support changes.
Skin Quality Dehydration, barrier disruption and surface damage can make laxity and crepiness look more pronounced.
Volume + Structure Not all “looseness” is skin alone. Changes in fat, bone and muscle can also affect facial contours and may require another approach.

Start With the Concern

What Are You Actually Trying to Tighten?

Treatment selection becomes much easier when we stop using “skin tightening” as one broad category.

Lower Face + Jawline

Softening Jawline

Virtue RF and TriPollar are often considered when the goal is collagen remodeling and improved firmness without surgical removal of skin.

Neck

Crepey Neck Skin

Depending on thickness and texture, treatment may emphasize Virtue RF, non-invasive TriPollar or fractional resurfacing.

Eyes

Upper + Lower Eyelid Laxity

Small delicate areas may be better suited to highly targeted technologies such as Virtue ExactRF or Subnovii Plasma.

Texture

Crepey, Rough or Wrinkled Skin

TriFractional RF and fractional CO₂ become more relevant when visible surface texture is as important as firmness.

Body

Abdomen, Arms + Body Laxity

Virtue DeepRF can be considered for deeper RF microneedling on larger body areas when laxity and texture are both concerns.

Maintenance

Early Collagen Loss

TriPollar, BioStim and regenerative adjuncts can fit into a lower-downtime skin-longevity strategy before laxity becomes advanced.

Six Different Roles

Our Skin Tightening & Collagen Remodeling Options

These treatments are not interchangeable. Each one earns its place by creating a different type of effect.

01

Virtue RF Microneedling

Needle-based RF delivers controlled radiofrequency energy at selected depths beneath the skin. It is the strongest fit on this page when the goal includes deeper collagen remodeling, texture, pores, scars and laxity together.

Best fit: face, jawline, neck, under-eye precision, body laxity, crepey texture and deeper collagen remodeling.
02

Lumenis Legend Pro

Legend Pro gives us two different RF effects: TriPollar for non-invasive dermal heating and collagen remodeling, and TriFractional for superficial fractional RF resurfacing and texture.

Best fit: lower-downtime firmness, mild-to-moderate wrinkles, collagen maintenance and surface texture refinement.
03

Subnovii Plasma

Highly focused plasma energy creates controlled micro-injuries across small, precise treatment zones. Its greatest value is in areas where precision matters more than treating a large surface.

Best fit: selected upper/lower eyelid laxity, crow's feet, lip lines and other small areas with visible crepiness.
04

DEKA Tetra CO₂ Laser

Fractional ablative CO₂ resurfacing creates controlled columns of tissue removal and thermal remodeling. It becomes especially useful when wrinkles, photodamage and rough texture accompany laxity.

Best fit: etched lines, photoaging, texture, wrinkles and clients willing to trade more recovery for stronger resurfacing.
05

Revision D·E·J BioStim™

A professional topical biostimulator designed to support the skin's own collagen and elastin production without needles. It applies more like a peel than an injectable biostimulator.

Best fit: early firmness changes, elasticity, luminosity, fine lines and a low-downtime collagen-support strategy.
06

AnteAGE P.E.A.R.L. Exosomes + PDRN

P.E.A.R.L. combines exosome/biosome technology with PDRN as a topical in-office regenerative adjunct. We use this category to support recovery, resilience and skin quality around selected procedures rather than presenting it as a stand-alone lifting device.

Best fit: treatment recovery support, texture, barrier quality and enhancing a broader regenerative skin plan.

Deeper RF Remodeling

Virtue RF: When We Want Adjustable Depth + Heat

Virtue RF combines microneedling with radiofrequency. The needles create controlled microchannels and deliver RF energy into selected depths of the dermis, creating both a mechanical wound-healing signal and controlled thermal remodeling.

SmartRF is used for face, neck, décolleté and hands. DeepRF expands treatment into larger body areas. ExactRF uses a single needle for highly precise areas around the eyes, mouth and jawline.

This versatility makes Virtue one of the most useful choices when laxity is paired with pores, scars, fine lines or textural concerns.

Where Virtue RF stands out
  • Adjustable needle depth + RF energy
  • SmartRF for face, neck, décolleté and hands
  • DeepRF for body laxity and texture
  • ExactRF for precision around eyes, mouth and jawline
  • Collagen + elastin remodeling
  • Texture, pores and scars can be addressed at the same time
Lumenis Legend Pro TriPollar® RF + TriFractional™ RF

RF Without Deep Microneedling

Legend Pro: Two RF Tools for Two Different Skin Layers

The Legend Pro modalities we use are TriPollar and TriFractional. TriPollar is non-invasive: focused RF energy produces controlled heating in the dermis to support collagen remodeling and treatment of mild-to-moderate wrinkles.

TriFractional works closer to the surface. Contact RF pins create pinpoint fractional ablation with controlled volumetric heating, triggering a wound-healing response for texture refinement and resurfacing.

That gives Legend Pro a useful niche between very gentle maintenance and deeper needle-based RF microneedling.

  • TriPollar: non-invasive warmth, firmness and collagen support
  • TriFractional: fine lines, texture and superficial RF resurfacing
  • Lower-downtime options can be emphasized when aggressive correction is unnecessary

Small Areas · High Precision

Subnovii Plasma: Focused Treatment Around the Eyes & Mouth

Subnovii uses a controlled plasma arc with LF+ technology to create tiny, precise thermal treatment points. Those points trigger a wound-healing response and can be useful when the area is too small or delicate for a broad full-face treatment.

We particularly think of Subnovii for selected upper or lower eyelid laxity, crow's feet and etched lip lines — areas where precision is more important than covering a large field.

Recovery is more visible than with TriPollar or BioStim. Small dark treatment dots/crusts are expected and need to shed naturally.

  • Upper and lower eyelid skin
  • Crow's feet and periorbital crepiness
  • Upper-lip / smoker's lines
  • Focused rather than full-face treatment
Precision over coverage. A small eyelid or lip-line treatment needs a different tool from full-face laxity.

Fractional Ablative Remodeling

Tetra CO₂: When Wrinkles, Texture & Laxity Travel Together

CO₂ resurfacing is not simply a “tightening machine.” Its strength is that it can address visible surface aging and dermal remodeling at the same time.

Fractional CO₂ creates controlled columns of ablation and surrounding thermal effect. The healing response supports collagen remodeling while the resurfacing component improves etched lines, rough texture, photodamage and other visible signs of aging.

DEKA Tetra allows treatment intensity and recovery to be customized, from lighter CoolPeel-style resurfacing to stronger fractional CO₂ protocols when greater correction is appropriate.

CO₂ becomes especially valuable when you see:
  • Fine lines + deeper etched wrinkles
  • Crepey surface texture
  • Photodamage and roughness
  • Upper-lip lines
  • Texture + firmness concerns together
  • Willingness to accept more recovery for more correction

Cellular Support + Regenerative Skin Quality

BioStim & Exosomes: Not Devices — A Different Layer of the Plan

These treatments belong on a skin-tightening page because collagen quality matters, but they should not be confused with RF, plasma or CO₂ energy. Their role is different.

Revision Skincare

D·E·J BioStim™ Treatment Solution

BioStim is a professional-only topical biostimulator. Revision describes it as clinically proven to boost the skin's natural collagen and elastin production and improve visible firmness, elasticity, luminosity, fine lines and wrinkles.

It applies more like a peel than an injectable treatment and does not add volume. This makes it especially interesting for clients who want a needle-free, minimal-downtime collagen-support strategy or a maintenance treatment between more corrective procedures.

Revision recommends a series of three treatments, generally spaced 2–4 weeks apart, with maintenance based on the individual plan.

BioStim is not the equivalent of RF microneedling, CO₂ resurfacing or surgical lifting. It is a topical biostimulation strategy for skin quality and visible firmness.

AnteAGE

P.E.A.R.L. Exosomes + PDRN

AnteAGE P.E.A.R.L. combines exosome/biosome technology with PDRN in an in-office topical system designed to support smoother, more resilient and radiant-looking skin.

AnteAGE specifically positions P.E.A.R.L. for use with ablative aesthetic services including RF microneedling. In our skin-longevity approach, exosome/PDRN support can be considered when recovery, barrier quality and regenerative skin support are priorities.

We do not position exosomes as a substitute for the thermal or fractional remodeling created by Virtue, Legend Pro, Subnovii or CO₂. They are an adjunct to the treatment plan.

AnteAGE exosome products are intended for topical cosmetic use. They contain no live stem cells.

A Treatment Plan, Not a Device Menu

How We Build a Skin Tightening Plan

01

Identify the Layer

Is the concern primarily laxity, surface crepiness, wrinkles, volume change or a combination?

02

Choose the Remodeling Signal

RF heat, fractional RF, plasma, CO₂ or topical biostimulation each create different biological and recovery profiles.

03

Match the Downtime

Some patients want low-downtime maintenance. Others are comfortable with visible healing in exchange for stronger correction.

04

Support the Skin

Home care, BioStim and selected regenerative adjuncts may be used to support skin quality between or around corrective treatments.

Realistic Expectations Matter

When Non-Surgical Skin Tightening Is — and Isn't — Enough

Energy-based and biostimulatory treatments can improve skin quality, firmness and texture. They are most satisfying when the degree of laxity is mild to moderate and the patient values natural remodeling without surgery.

When there is a large amount of redundant skin, pronounced jowling or structural descent, a surgical consultation may provide a more meaningful result than repeatedly stacking non-surgical treatments.

Knowing when not to over-treat is part of good aesthetic planning.

Non-surgical treatment works best when the goal is:

Better firmness, smoother texture, stronger-looking skin, improved collagen quality and gradual rejuvenation — not recreating the result of surgically removing excess skin.

Consider a surgical opinion when:

There is significant excess skin, advanced lower-face/neck laxity or the desired degree of lifting exceeds what collagen remodeling can reasonably accomplish.

Experience Matters

Better Skin Tightening Begins With Better Treatment Selection

Nina Crytser has worked in medical aesthetics since 2003 and uses multiple technologies for collagen remodeling, resurfacing and regenerative skin support.

That range is important. If the only tool available is RF microneedling, every laxity concern starts to look like an RF microneedling problem. If the only tool is a laser, every patient becomes a laser candidate.

At Modern Skin Clinic, the goal is to choose among Virtue RF, Legend Pro, Subnovii Plasma, Tetra CO₂, BioStim and regenerative support according to the actual skin — not force the skin into one favorite device.

“Skin tightening isn't about chasing the strongest device. It is about choosing the right type of remodeling for the layer we want to change.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Skin Tightening FAQs

What is the best non-surgical skin tightening treatment?
There is no single best treatment for every type of laxity. Virtue RF is useful for deeper RF microneedling and texture, TriPollar for non-invasive RF remodeling, TriFractional for superficial RF resurfacing, Subnovii for small precision areas and CO₂ when wrinkles and surface damage also need correction.
What is the best skin tightening treatment for the neck?
The choice depends on whether the neck concern is primarily laxity, crepey surface texture or etched lines. Virtue RF, TriPollar and fractional resurfacing may each have a role depending on skin thickness and desired downtime.
What is best for loose skin under the eyes?
Delicate under-eye skin often benefits from precision rather than broad aggressive treatment. Virtue ExactRF or Subnovii Plasma may be considered in selected patients depending on whether the concern is laxity, bags, crepiness or another structural issue.
Is Virtue RF better than Legend Pro?
They are different. Virtue is needle-based RF microneedling with adjustable depth and is useful for deeper remodeling. Legend Pro TriPollar is non-invasive RF, while TriFractional provides more superficial fractional RF resurfacing.
What is the difference between TriPollar and RF microneedling?
TriPollar delivers focused RF heating from the skin surface without needles. RF microneedling places needles into the skin and delivers RF at selected depths. Both support collagen remodeling but create different treatment effects and recovery profiles.
Is Subnovii better than RF microneedling for eyelids?
Not automatically. Subnovii is highly precise and useful for selected small areas such as upper or lower eyelid skin. Virtue ExactRF also provides precision around the eyes. The better choice depends on anatomy, skin thickness, degree of laxity and desired recovery.
Does CO2 laser tighten skin?
Fractional CO₂ resurfacing creates controlled ablation and thermal remodeling that can improve the appearance of wrinkles, texture and skin firmness. Its main advantage is addressing surface aging and collagen remodeling together.
What is BioStim and is it a skin tightening treatment?
Revision D·E·J BioStim is a professional topical biostimulator designed to support the skin's natural collagen and elastin production and improve visible firmness and elasticity. It is a low-downtime biostimulation treatment, not the same as RF, plasma, CO₂ or injectable volume restoration.
Do exosomes tighten skin?
We do not position topical exosomes/PDRN as a replacement for an energy-based tightening procedure. AnteAGE P.E.A.R.L. is used as a regenerative adjunct to support skin recovery, texture, resilience and overall skin quality around selected procedures.
Can skin tightening help after weight loss?
Mild-to-moderate crepiness and laxity after weight loss may benefit from collagen-remodeling treatments such as Virtue DeepRF or other selected modalities. Significant redundant skin may be better addressed surgically.
How many skin tightening treatments will I need?
It depends on the technology. RF remodeling is often performed as a series, while stronger fractional CO₂ or focused plasma may involve fewer but more intensive sessions. BioStim is commonly performed as a three-treatment series. Your plan is individualized.
How long does non-surgical skin tightening last?
Results vary because treatment stimulates remodeling but does not stop aging. Maintenance may be useful over time as collagen changes continue and new laxity develops.
Can non-surgical treatment replace a facelift or neck lift?
No. Non-surgical treatments can improve firmness, texture and collagen quality, but they do not physically remove large amounts of excess skin. Significant laxity may be better served by a surgical consultation.
Where can I get skin tightening near Ballantyne or Waverly?
Modern Skin Clinic is located at 11030 Golf Links Drive in South Charlotte, convenient to Ballantyne, Waverly, Rea Farms, Blakeney, Matthews and nearby communities.

When you consult an expert about any issue, it is not just the technical knowledge that matters. The philosophy of practice guides the selection of methods and products. Nina is a good example of an artisan who approaches any issue at hand with a holistic approach that is not limited to topical manipulation but rather encourages overall wellness. She is most attentive to what you seek as well as the limitations of products and technologies you are willing to use. A delight to have an intelligent conversation with, particularly, if you come from a practical clinical background.

    Skin Care Services

I've always assumed I'd have to endure acne issues for the rest of my life. I'm in my early twenties and have had terrible acne for as long as I can remember. I've gone to every dermatologist in Charlotte, and after just one treatment with Nina, I began to see results. My skin has been a never-ending battle up until I started going here. It's affordable (I'm job hunting and can still manage coming here once a month), and it works like magic. I've had tiny acne bumps and constant painful breakouts all over my face for as long as I can remember, and not one doctor has been able to alleviate them or make them go away altogether. Nina can take each patient and customize their treatments, so there's a guarantee there are results. I wear my hair back and haven't touched my makeup drawer since my first treatment.
